Perfect Memorial For My Angel Baby

Posted by Leesa on 1st Mar 2020

I miscarried at 9 weeks with my first pregnancy. Miscarriage is an odd thing because after it’s over- even if you have support, everyone moves on and you are the one left remembering. There is no ceremony, and not even everyone knew you were pregnant in the first place. It is just a circumstance where the “normal” grief practices and acknowledgment is not in place. After it was all said and done, all I had left was a single rose I saved and dried from a bouquet my mom brought me. I didn’t have a tombstone or memorial to go visit- just that rose to look at and remember. Three years later, I had my son and we had a beautiful 2 year and 7 month breastfeeding journey that I wanted to memorialize with some breastmilk jewelry. I researched and compared companies and fell in love with Holly’s work. I ordered several pieces that turned out so beautifully and mean so much to me. I love the jewelry and the happy emotions and memories I experience when I wear it each day. I love it so much, I wanted to place a second order of additional pieces and I decided I wanted a piece to dedicate to my first baby to acknowledge her too. (Although I never knew the gender, I always envision the baby was a girl.) Because of the care and love and attention to detail Holly put into every piece of jewelry she had crafted for me, I entrusted her with all I had to memorialize my angel baby- my single dried rose and breastmilk that I was never able to give her. The day I received my flower pendant, I cried happy and sad tears at the sight of it. She did a beautiful job designing it and I am honored to wear it to recognize my first baby. I requested the name tag, Angel, and three gemstones to signify important dates that I will always remember- May’s gemstone for when I found out I was going to be a mother for the very first time, January’s gemstone for her due date, and April’s for her conception date AND God blessing me with my son’s birth on her exact conception date three years later. I will treasure this piece with all of my heart for all of my life.
